Publication Decisions
The editor of the Ulul Albab: Jurnal Studi dan Penelitian Hukum Islam is tasked with the responsibility of determining which articles are suitable for publication. This decision-making process should consistently be informed by the validity of the research and its relevance to both the academic community and the readership. The editor is expected to adhere to the journal's editorial board policies and must comply with legal standards pertaining to defamation, copyright infringement, and plagiarism. Furthermore, the editor may seek counsel from fellow editors or reviewers to inform these decisions.
Fair Play
Editors should assess manuscripts primarily on their intellectual merit, without consideration of the authors' race, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, ethnic origin, nationality, or political philosophy.
Confidentiality
Editors and editorial staff are obligated to maintain confidentiality regarding any information related to a submitted manuscript, disclosing such information only to the corresponding author, reviewers, prospective reviewers, other editorial advisors, and the publisher, as necessary.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Editors should refrain from utilizing unpublished material disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research purposes without the explicit written consent of the authors.
Duties of Reviewers
Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists editors in making informed editorial decisions and can also facilitate the enhancement of authors’ manuscripts through constructive editorial communication.
Promptness
Reviewers who perceive themselves as unqualified to assess a manuscript or who are unable to complete the review in a timely manner should promptly inform the editor and withdraw from the review process.
Confidentiality
Manuscripts accepted for review are to be regarded as confidential documents and must not be shared or discussed with third parties unless authorized by the editor.
Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted with objectivity, and personal criticism of the author is deemed inappropriate. Referees are expected to articulate their perspectives clearly, substantiated by reasoned arguments.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Reviewers are expected to identify pertinent published works that have not been referenced by the authors. Any claim that an observation, derivation, or argument has been previously documented must be supported by an appropriate citation. Additionally, reviewers should notify the editor if they observe substantial similarities or overlaps between the manuscript under review and other published manuscripts of which they are personally aware.
Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Reviewers are obligated to maintain the confidentiality of information acquired during the peer review process and are prohibited from utilizing such information for personal benefit. Furthermore, reviewers should refrain from assessing manuscripts in instances where a conflict of interest may arise due to competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with the authors, companies, or institutions linked to the manuscript.
Duties of Authors
Reporting Standards
Authors of original research reports are expected to deliver a precise account of their work, accompanied by an objective discussion of its significance. The underlying data must be accurately represented within the manuscript, and the text should include sufficient detail and references to facilitate the replication of the research. Any fraudulent or deliberately inaccurate statements are deemed unethical and unacceptable.
Originality and Plagiarism
Authors must ensure that their work is entirely original and that they accurately quote or cite the contributions of others when utilized.
Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication
Authors should generally refrain from publishing a manuscript that describes essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Simultaneous submission of the same manuscript to multiple journals is considered unethical and is thus unacceptable.
Acknowledgment of Sources
Authors should adequately acknowledge the contributions of others and cite publications that have substantially influenced their research.
Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be confined to individuals who have made substantial contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All significant contributors must be acknowledged as co-authors. Individuals who have engaged in specific substantive aspects of the research project should be recognized or designated as contributors. The corresponding author bears the responsibility of ensuring that all appropriate co-authors are included in the manuscript, while also ensuring the exclusion of any inappropriate co-authors. Furthermore, it is imperative that all co-authors have reviewed and approved the final version of the manuscript and have consented to the submission of the manuscript for publication.
Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
Authors are required to disclose any financial or other substantive conflicts of interest that may influence the outcomes or interpretations presented in their manuscript. Additionally, all sources of financial support for the project must be explicitly stated.
Fundamental Errors in Published Works
If an author identifies significant errors or inaccuracies in their published work, they are obligated to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and collaborate to retract or correct the publication.
